Bio

Ian Newman is a multi-faceted songwriter, composer and sound designer currently based in Southern Spain, composing music for 'sync', as well as writing and arranging for other singers.

Raised in a musical family on the edge of East London (UK) he grew up singing in choirs, learning the piano and organ, and then started writing songs as a teenager. Music for Ian was always 'just for fun' and did not consider it as a career until much later, so he studied Electronic Engineering at University and ran a successful freelance business for many years whilst his musical interests bubbled away in the background in the form of live performances at weddings and charity fundraisers as well as continuing to write songs. Every spare hour was spent studying and absorbing music - pop, rock, folk, classical, jazz, theatre - there were no bounds. Later, Ian continued with more formal training, taking classes in songwriting, music production for TV and film (receiving a diploma in Media Composition from Music for the Media, London), piano and voice. Ian recognises the importance of lifelong learning and development so continues to study music production and songwriting, jazz piano, guitar and voice, as well as performing live as a pianist and vocalist under the moniker 'Ian Arthur'.

Nowadays Ian's composing work keeps him busy in his studio where, as well as pursuing collaborative and personal projects, Ian is currently working with Transcend Music & Entertainment (TEAM) to provide bespoke music and sound design to corporate clients and film projects.
